2. God and the Child with Rebekah Rojcewicz
Wednesday Jan 08, 2020
Wednesday Jan 08, 2020
“Amen, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children,* you will not enter the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 18:3 NAB
Does the child already have a connection with God? How can we, as adults, foster it? Why does an encounter with God create a peace and joy in the child and what does this look like? What about the children who have a hard time finding that peace and joy? What is a Metaphysical child?
Rebekah Rojcewicz explores with us the spiritual depth of the child that is discussed in the first chapter of The Religious Potential of the Child by Sofia Cavalletti. In this episode she helps us have a deeper understanding and respect for the hidden riches of the child. She lifts up the place of the adult as co-learner so that we can allow the true teacher, the Holy Spirit, to encounter the child.

Woops I pressed send too soon. Her explanation of metaphysical is very helpful. Her encouragement to experience God with and through the child is wonderful. And the brief chat about the essential role of practical life activities is interesting. Can’t wait for the next one. So good to have another point of contact especially in these isolating times. What an amazing podcast! This was not only inspirational, but was a great reminder of our role as catechists -- that of facilitators rather than teachers. We are always looking for ways to convince others of the extreme value of CGS. Listening to the first five minutes of this podcast should do just that. Thank you!

This is a great podcast! I am a lone CGS catechist in a rural parish. I look forward to my annual formation and see it as a retreat. This podcast really helps me feel connected to the cgs community.

I love listening to Rebekah ! I especially enjoyed her reminder and encouragement to walk with the children, to meet their needs ( usually initially through the work of their hands) and to bring them peace and readiness to work with the materials.
